Over the years at Celtic Repairs we have seen a lot of damaged devices & have heard all the stories about Cheap repairs, Free Fixes & much more. This blog is to try and address some of the SmartPhone Repair Common Myths & Misinformation about SmartPhone Repairs & SmartPhone Accessories
SmartPhone Screen Repairs
Q. A Cheap Screen repair is just as good as a OEM – Original Screen Replacement – Right?
A. Nothing beats the Original Part which is why it is very important for you to know what part is been fitted to your phone. With the cheaper screen replacement in iPhones you will see a difference of some sort and may even have touch issue’s after the screen repair. Oem is Original parts replacement which does not mean the complete part is Original but that the components which make the replacement part is like for like to the original part
Samsung Galaxy Screen Repair
Q. Samsung Screens Repair are so Expensive you may as well buy a new Phone!
A. With Samsung phones you do need to fit the Original part so you won’t see a difference on your new display. It has not been possible for others to copy the Samsung screens and have a good success rate. While the Samsung replacement part is expensive it is still less than a 3rd of the price of replacing the phone with the same new phone. We suggest you compare the cost of a repair to a new phone of the same specs.
Phone Covers & Screen Savers
Q. Phone Covers & Screen Savers are a waste of Money.
A. If you buy a cheap phone cover and a cheap screen saver then yes, if you buy a good branded phone cover, like UAG, OtterBox etc then it tells you on the cover what it is tested for and how it has been tested. These type covers are worth every cent they cost and will save your phone when needed. Like wise with the screen saver, a plastic one is a waste of time but a Premium Tempered Glass screen saver is a most to have on your phone and they only cost from €10.00 so it is not expensive and will keep the face of your phone clean and scratch free.

Water Damage Phone Repair
Q. Rice will Fix a Water Damage Phone – Yes?
A. This Myth have distroyed many Phones. It does NOT work – We have opened phones after been left in Rice for a week and the phone has still been wet inside it. It is then too late for the cleaning to work. If your phone gets wet, then don’t use it, don’t charge it, don’t leave it in rice or in a hot press. The only way it can be dried out correctly is by opening the phone, cleaning all the components inside the phone and then take it from there. We have saved a lot of water damaged phones by simply cleaning the Phone correctly
Charger Cables
Q. Cheap Charger Cables are Fine to use if the phone cable is broken or damaged – Why Pay More for the Right Cable?
A. At this stage in the Smartphone world everyone should know you must use the correct Cable & Plug to charge your phone – Its a Must & not that much more expensive. We have seen none verified cables burn the second it was plugged in to the phone, which also burn the mainboard in the phone. Now if this doesn’t happen then its ok – Right?
If the cable works & you think its ok, what actually is happening is because its the wrong cable it will damage a Power IC Chip on the main board, so you use the cable for 2 or 3 weeks an then you notice the phone is charging faster & losing power faster, it would have been fine before you used the cable and now its not. You then think the battery in gone bad in it, have a new battery fitted & the phone is doing the samething afterwards, The answer is the cheap cable has damaged the Power Ic Chip on the main board. It is repairable but it is expensive so simply avoid using the cheaper cables.
USB Plugs
Q. All USB Plugs are the Same?
A. No USB Plugs are different & are not all the same. Apple USB Plugs for iPhones are 1.0 amp 5volt – iPad USB Plug ( Which may look exactly the same physically are 2.1 amp – 5.1 volt and should not be used to charge your iPhone.
Samsung USB Plugs, the older phones are the lower voltage so under the s6 are a 1.0 amp 5v plug, above can use the fast charge plug which is a higher voltage plug 2.0a – 5.0v up to 1.67a – 9.0v this depends on the device, s6 upwards including the s10 series
Samsung New 25w Charger for the latest 5g phone upwards, 2.25amp – 25w – 11 Voltage USB C to USB C so that it cannot be used in devices under the s10 5g
